Navigating Your Library's Main Screen
Your library's main screen is the central hub of your PocketShelf experience. From here, you can view your entire book collection, add new titles, and access all of the app's features. This screen is the first thing you see when you open the app, providing a complete overview of your reading life.
Key Components of the Main Screen
The main screen is organized into several distinct areas to help you manage your books efficiently. Here’s a breakdown of what you'll find:
- Currently Reading: This section at the top displays the book you are actively reading. A progress bar underneath the cover shows you how far you are, making it easy to see your progress at a glance.
- To Read: Below the 'Currently Reading' section is your 'To Read' list. This is your personal bookshelf for all the books you plan to read next.
- Add Book Button (+): Located in the top-right corner, the plus icon opens the 'Add Book' screen, where you can search for a book, scan its barcode, or add it manually.
- Settings Icon: In the top-left corner, this icon takes you to the settings menu. Here you can manage your membership, access your archive, and configure app settings.
- View Toggle: This allows you to switch your library's layout between a visual Grid view and a more detailed List view.
Interacting with Your Books
You can interact with the books in your library in several ways directly from the main screen:
- Tap a book: Tapping on any book cover will take you to its detailed progress screen, where you can log a reading session, view your notes, and see more information.
- Long-press a book: Pressing and holding a book cover brings up a quick action menu. The primary action here is to Archive the book, moving it out of your active library.
The main screen also features a mini-player at the bottom for your current reading session, allowing you to quickly start or stop the timer without navigating away from your library.
Tips for Using This Section
To keep your 'To Read' list organized, consider archiving books you've finished or decided not to read. You can always access them later from the Archive in the settings menu.
